INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Earth Uprising International Law & Policy (EULP) branch welcomes you to this incredible team of youth leaders! This branch will focus on empowering and supporting youth to advocate for climate justice in the fields of law and policy.

This branch will focus on assisting youth-led existing and new environmental legal cases. Additionally, this branch will also focus on assisting youth with initiating environmental justice policy proposals or continue advancing if the policy proposal work has been started. We know that law and policy have a lot to do with each other—they compliment each other. Hence, we made this a law and policy duo program.

Creating climate justice policy proposals at all government levels and all around the world will help us strengthen environmental laws! If we can strengthen our environmental laws, then we are also helping set a winning environment for our environmental legal cases.

If this seems of interest to you in any way, feel more than welcome to check out our Join a EU Law & Policy Working Group page. You can also reach out to our directors by emailing Marlen Garcia (marlen@earthuprising.org) and Sherif Elrefaey (sherif@earthuprising.org) regarding anything related to the work of our branch.

OUR BRANCH STRUCTURE

EULP, like our other branches, will be organizing our volunteers through the implementation of working groups. Each group will have responsibilities related to environmental law and policy all while combining it with other interests, talents, and passions. You can check out our current available groups down below. All working groups will have a facilitator, notetaker, and a reporter. These roles aren’t assigned, volunteers are to sign up for these roles and can take turns. This will give all members in a working group an opportunity to take on a role at our working group meetings.

The projects of these working groups will be supported by our law and policy directors. Our LP Directors will also be the ones that keep the work of this branch connected with other EU branches and efforts.
